There have been many rumors about Facebook floating around over the last few years. Some believe that it has a sinister motivation while others look at it as a true internet success story. There is no doubt that it has reshaped the way we communicate with each other.
How many friends do you have that you only see there? How much information do you know about people you would otherwise be uninterested in? But more importantly: who else is watching?

I accepted a friend request from an old high school acquaintance about a year ago. Recently, I saw him at a distance (in reality) and we both pretended not to see each other. I’m still seeing his updates and pictures. I’m not going to lie to you – I am embarrassed to admit that. Since this article was posted, Facebook released this message on their site:

“Over the past few days, we have received a lot of feedback about the new terms we posted two weeks ago. Because of this response, we have decided to return to our previous Terms of Use while we resolve the issues that people have raised. For more information, visit the Facebook Blog.
If you want to share your thoughts on what should be in the new terms, check out our group Facebook Bill of Rights and Responsibilities.”

What do you think?

This video has really made me think about my own activity online. Is it paranoid to think that my actions on the web are of interest to someone else? I would like to hear someone else’s opinion.
