People do.
It’s important to remember that culture is built by people. Artists, designers and creators used their own human experiences to shape the world as it is today. These collective expressions were inspired by other aspects of humanity. There is no formula for it. You cannot calculate it. It comes from a place within the subconscious that AI simply don’t have.
This piece was prompted by a need to make something that a machine could never come up with. Designed in a horizontal format with manually animated components.

This non-fungible token punctuates 30 years of making digital art. Since 1993, I have been making art with a computer and celebrating the worlds of others who do the same. I hope that this piece stands as a testament to my objection to AI emulated art.
Not surprisingly, many here in the NFT community are either thrilled about AI or afraid to speak out against it for fear of upsetting someone. I’m neither. I’m also aware that this position has an effect on how my own art is valued and how I am perceived as a person. A small price to stay true to myself and to defend the next generation of true artists who follow after me.
Why did I make it? For reasons that a machine could never understand. I made it because I felt like it.
For those of you out there that don’t feel like AI is a big deal, check back in a year. See if you still view it as just another tool in the artist’s tool box or if it becomes something different all together. Time will tell.
It gave me anew perspective and understanding of machines and mechanics.
