Adam Jarvis is a creative director. He has enjoyed a successful 14 year career building brands for some of the world’s most noticeable names. Adam is also a classically trained painter and illustrator. These two sides of his creative life have been in constant conflict for many years. The strategic side of his brain and the free spirited artistic side finally collided in the form of an art show entitled BRANDED™. The show consisted of 12 female vector portraits created entirely out of logos. See how many you can find.

“My business life has been focused on building brands – designingadvertisements that sell things.
My artistic life has primarily been about the female form – painting portraits of women as powerful and magical characters.
Shortly after the birth of my daughter Olivia this year, I stumbled upon a place in which the two collide.
My new collection BRANDED™ is a series of 12 portraits. 4 of which are multi-layerd between 5 sheets of glass. Each digitally created piece is comprised from a pool of thousands of logos collected across my career as a graphic designer.
The subjects are also brands themselves. Transformed into goddesses of capitalism.
As consumers, are we defined by the brands we buy?Collectively are we the sum of our purchases?
The answer is the question – BRANDED™
Dedicated to my wife Natalie, my daughter Olivia,
and the memory of Gerald Caracciolo (June 22, 1957 – May 25, 2006)”

In addition, Adam also composed small poems to accompany each of his pieces to give you a sense of personality for each. The idea was that if a customer would identify with a piece on a personal level, they would take her home. His instincts were correct. All of these prints sold out.

RASHEDA –

Every night, as a galaxy of insects lullaby the world to sleep,
I drop to my knees.
I close my eyes, and send prayers to the Almighty.
I do not pray for selfish things.
I spend my prayers on you.

SILVIA –

Before we go any further, I think that there are a few things that you should know about me.
First of all:
I am loyal to my friends.
Actually, that’s all you need to know.

RAMONA –

In this world of lies and untruths, it is refreshing to finally find someone like you.
This armor that I wear is from my past.
I was deceived into it long ago.
Assist me my dear, in removing it.

PORTIA –

Don’t make the same mistake as the others before you.
The ones who felt that they had me all figured out.
Clever lines. Romantic wines.
You think that you can hypnotize me with candy and flowers?
Guess again Kreskin.
Look into my eyes.
‘Tis you, who will do my bidding.

CHRISTINA –

Meet me on the battlefield my love. where we can settle things once and for all.
Bathed in moonlight, cutting your fear down like sugarcane.
Sweet. Warm. Wonderous.
And when they ask you what regret tastes like.
Tell them that you know no such thing.

PATRICIA –

Maybe I was intended for another time.
Another place.
Perhaps this was not the life that was meant to be mine.
That’s the easy way out.
These are your cards.
This coin is your life.
Spend it as you please.
But you can only spend it once.

DOMINIQUE –

Let me tell you what I know for sure:
I know that a plane never hit the Pentagon.
I know the burning temperature of jet fuel.
I know the melting point of steel.
I know that money makes the world go round.
Conspiracy theorist?
No.
Just an intelligent person who knows a lie when they see it.

JENNY –

My mother. My grandmother.
We share the same pair of eyes.
Together, we have watched family and friends rise like smoke.
Be gentle with my heart.
Be aware of those who watch over me.
Treasure our time together.

AUDREY –

I was not looking for this.
This predicament we find ourselves in together.
I certainly did not wish it.
Or want it.
Or know the first thing about being here – in love.
The way we are today.
Yet, here we are.

DIANE –

I’ve spent far too much time swimming towards the future.
Burning calendars.
Breaking hearts and appointments.
Now I live in the now.
Where I am is where I am.
Today is a gift.
That’s why it’s called the present.
